Fairy tales have a lot of power. Already in early childhood they teach us structures to arrange our lifeworld. They convey role patterns, stereotypes and principles of storytelling. During the ACTiVISION workshops participants re-interpreted the tale of ‚Rapunzel‘ and developped two different shows. This is one of them.

You are welcome: This show is a prologue! The play ‚Offending The Audience‘ (in German referred to as ‚Publikumsbeschimpfung‘ ) usually opens like this. Developped by the Austrian Writer Peter Handke it presents only four speakers, focusses on the audience and makes the direction of their thoughts and behaviour a subject of discussion. Clowns Sitting On The Bench | Show
Buffoonery has a long tradition from Greek and Roman comedy to Commedia dell’arte up to modern clownery and pantomime. As the jester did formerly in Middle Age today it is still part of clownery to criticise the ruling and powerful – not only to amuse but to caricature a certain habitus or behaviour and question politics, polity and policy. During the ACTiVISION workshops participants approached the principles of clownery through this improvisation in public space.
Object Theatre | Show
Giving soul and meaning to a lifeless object or puppet is a powerful instrument of political theatre. The animation of objects and puppets (recapped here as object theatre) can help to adress political responsabilities, to balance proximity and distance towards a role and to show yourself in your acting. During the ACTiVISION workshops participants developped this show to approach the principles of object theatre in practice.
